Regular Season Round 3: Joventut LC - Arxil Pontev. 68-75

Another exciting game was played in Barcelona between Arxil Pontevedra and Joventut LC where Arxil Pontevedra (2-1) beat Joventut LC (1-2) on the road 75-68. It looked good early as Joventut LC took a 3-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Arxil Pontevedra had a 16-11 second period charge getting the lead and Joventut LC was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 68-75. Arxil Pontevedra well out of reach of Joventut LC shooting 70.8 percent from the field and made 40-of-45 charity shots (88.9 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Joventut LC 34-23 including 27 on the defensive glass. It was a good game for Venezuela Waleska Perez (180-94, college: Weatherford JC) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 10 rebounds. Mali center Minata Keita (190-89) contributed with 19 points and 9 rebounds (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line) for the winners. Paula Tutusaus answered with 18 points and 5 rebounds and Nerea Garmendia added 9 points and 10 rebounds in the effort for Joventut LC. Joventut LC's coach tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Arxil Pontevedra will play against Barcelona (#5) at home in the next round. Joventut LC's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Barcelona to the arena Segle XXI.
