Regular Season Round 6: Panteras - Correcaminos 85-75

An interesting game for Panteras (6-0) which hosted in 3rd ranked Correcaminos (3-3). Top-ranked Panteras managed to get a 10-point victory 85-75. The hosts trailed by 2 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 4-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 85-75. Panteras had a 19-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. 25 personal fouls committed by Correcaminos helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a good game for swingman Shayra Brown (175-92, college: Boston Coll.) who led her team to a victory with 34 points (!!!) and 6 rebounds. American forward Kiley Herold (185, college: MidAmerica Naz.) contributed with 22 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Lineth Bennis replied with 20 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists and the former international Yomaira Vargas added 12 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists in the effort for Correcaminos. Four Correcaminos players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Panteras have an impressive six-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 6-0 record. Correcaminos at the other side keep the third place with three games lost. Panteras are looking forward to face bottom-ranked Caballos (#6) in the next round where they are favorite. Correcaminos will play against Aguilas and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
