The most surprising game was a loss of Umana Venezia (2-1) at the home court on Sunday night. Hosts were defeated by Dolomiti En. TR (2-1) 76-59. The game was mostly controlled by Dolomiti En. TR. Umana Venezia managed to win second period 21-13. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Umana Venezia to just 7 points in first quarter. Dolomiti En. TR forced 19 Umana Venezia turnovers and outrebounded them 45-28 including a 30-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a great evening for American power forward Johndre Jefferson (207-88, college: S.Carolina, agency: Three Eye Sports) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 11 rebounds. His fellow American import forward Dustin Hogue (198-92, college: Iowa St.) helped adding 11 points and 9 rebounds. Four Dolomiti En. TR players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was international swingman Stefano Tonut (194-93) with 8 points and 5 assists and Canadian-Nigeria forward Melvin Ejim (200-91, college: Iowa St.) scored 6 points and 6 rebounds. Umana Venezia's coach rotated eleven players seeing no chance for a win. Dolomiti En. TR is looking forward to face Betaland Cdo (#11) in Capo d'Orlando in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Umana Venezia will play on the road against Grissin Bon RE (#3) in Reggio Emilia and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
