Regular Season Round 3: Korikouvot - HyPo 66-87

Very important is a home loss of Korikouvot (2-2) against HyPo (1-1) on Sunday night. Host Korikouvot was crushed by HyPo in Kouvola 87-66. The game without a history. HyPo led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Korikouvot's 16 and made 16-of-18 free shots (88.9 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Korikouvot 51-31 including a 36-24 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a good game for American point guard Deandre Upchurch (183-91) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 38 points (!!!) and 15 rebounds. Forward Ilkka Blomqvist (196-84) contributed with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 13 rebounds for the winners. Guard Valtteri Leino (181-95) answered with 21 points and guard Teemu Knihtinen (192-98) added 9 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for Korikouvot. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. HyPo will face PeU-Basket (#13) in Pernio in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Korikouvot will play on the road against Namika Lr (#12) in Lappeenranta and hope to win that game.
