No shocking result in a game when second ranked Aishin Sea Horses (5-3) beat on the road 5th ranked Osaka Evessa (2-6) 93-88 on Sunday. The guests were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. Aishin Sea Horses dominated down low during the game scoring 68 of its points in the paint compared to Osaka Evessa's 46. American power forward Gavin Edwards (206-88, college: Connecticut) orchestrated the victory by scoring 21 points and 6 rebounds. The former international swingman Makoto Hiejima (190-90) contributed with 24 points and 4 assists (on 10-of-12 shooting from the field) for the winners. American forward Josh Harrellson (208-89, college: Kentucky) replied with a double-double by scoring 30 points and 12 rebounds and his fellow American import power forward Xavier Gibson (210-88, college: Florida St., agency: Comsport) added 20 points (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) in the effort for Osaka Evessa. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Osaka Evessa's coach Dai Oketani tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Aishin Sea Horses maintains second position with 5-3 record having just two points less than leader Tochigi Brex, which they share with Hitachi SR and Ryukyu GK. Osaka Evessa lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the fifth place with six games lost. Aishin Sea Horses will face Kyoto Hannar. (#4) at home in the next round. Osaka Evessa will play against Shiga L-Stars and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
