Regular Season Round 3: VeA - VEF skola 86-83

There was no surprise when VEF skola (0-4) was edged on the road by Ventspils Augstskola (1-2) 86-83 on Monday. The hosts trailed by 4 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 8-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 86-83. Ventspils Augstskola dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to VEF skola's 32. Ventspils Augstskola forced 23 VEF skola turnovers. It was a good game for Belarusian guard Vlad Mikulskiy (192-98) who led his team to a victory with 23 points and 4 assists. Belarusian power forward Denis Vikentsyeu (203-98) contributed with a double-double by scoring 17 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Four Ventspils Augstskola players scored in double figures. Guard Eduards Hazners (192-97) answered with 35 points (!!!) and 6 rebounds (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line) and guard Nikolajs Zotovs (182-98) added 19 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists in the effort for VEF skola. VEF skola's coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Ventspils Augstskola will face Limbazi at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. VEF skola will play against Jelgava (#3) and looks forward to get finally their first victory.
