Regular Season Round 2: Estudiantes O. - Olimpo BB 82-77

There was a minor upset when Olimpo (1-1) lost to Estudiantes O. (1-1) in Olavarria 77-82 on Tuesday. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 22-16. But Olimpo won second period 24-19. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Olimpo was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. Swingman Santiago Arese (196-87) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 14 points, 7 rebounds, 10 assists and 4 steals. Rodrigo Sanchez (200-89) contributed with 17 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Guard Christian Schoppler (185-86) replied with 20 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists and American center Thomas Granado (208-88, college: Concordia Irvine, agency: Interperformances) added 16 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Olimpo. Four Olimpo players scored in double figures. Estudiantes O. will face Alianza Viedma in Rio Negro in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Olimpo will play at home against Alianza Viedma and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
