Regular Season Round 2: Kozuv - Beroe 80-86

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of FYR Macedonia Kozuv (1-1) in Gevgelija on Tuesday night. Hosts were defeated by Bulgaria Beroe (2-0) 86-80. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 26-19. But Kozuv won second period 26-20. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Beroe won last quarter 22-18. American guard Shane Gibson (188-90, college: Sacred Heart) scored 33 points (!!!) to lead the charge for the winners and DR Congolese forward Omari Gudul (208-94, college: Angelo St., agency: Two Points) chipped in 23 points and 7 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) during the contest. Beroe's coach used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American point guard Kenyon McNeaill (185-91, college: Louisiana Tech) responded with 28 points and 5 assists and Serbian Milivoje Mijovic (200-91) produced a double-double by scoring 12 points and 10 rebounds. Four Kozuv players scored in double figures. Beroe is looking forward to face Bashkimi (#6) in Prizren in the next round where they are favorite. Kozuv will play on the road against Teodo Tivat and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
