Rather expected game when 9th ranked UU-Korihait (1-5) lost to sixth ranked Kauhajoen Karhu (2-2) in Kauhajoki 94-102. The hosts were tied after three quarters but managed to speed up in last quarter eventually winning the game. Kauhajoen Karhu shot the lights out from three nailing 12 long-distance shots on high 52.2 percentage. UU-Korihait was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. American players dominated the game. Forward DeVaughn Washington (202-89, college: Ohio, agency: Mansfield and Associates) stepped up and scored 22 points and 8 rebounds for the winners and guard Kevin Ware (188-93, college: Georgia St., agency: Mansfield and Associates) chipped in 17 points and 6 rebounds. Guard Emmanuel Holloway (185-86, college: Illinois St., agency: Blacktop Management) responded with 27 points and power forward Marcus Van (201-87, college: Cent.Michigan) produced a double-double by scoring 19 points and 13 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Kauhajoen Karhu moved-up to fifth place. UU-Korihait lost fifth consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the ninth position with five games lost. Kauhajoen Karhu will play against league's second-placed Salon Vilpas at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. UU-Korihait will play against Tampereen Pyrinto (#10) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
