Regular Season Round 5: Flammes - Lyon 78-71

Everything could happen in Charleville at the game between two tied teams. Both fourth ranked Flammes and 8th ranked Lyon had identical 2-2 record. This time Flammes used a home court advantage and won against the opponent from Lyon 78-71 on Wednesday night. Lyon was trailing by 3 points at halftime but managed to get 1-point lead after three quarters before a 24-16 charge of Flammes, which allowed them to win the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The best player for the winners was international guard Amel Bouderra (160-89) who scored 26 points and 8 assists. American forward Kaleena Mosqueda-Lewis (180-93, college: Connecticut) chipped in 15 points. Four Flammes players scored in double figures. The former international guard Melanie Plust (173-89) produced 19 points and forward Jenny Fouasseau (179-92) added 14 points respectively for the guests. Flammes (3-2) moved-up to third place, which they share with 3 other teams. Loser Lyon dropped to the seventh position with three games lost. Flammes will face Nice (#9) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Lyon will play against Hainaut and hope to win that game.
