Regular Season Round 4: Valga - Tartu Ulikool 67-89

The most crucial game of the last round was the first loss of undefeated Valga (3-1) at the home court. Hosts were rolled over by TU/Rock (3-0) 89-67. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Valga. It was a key game for the top position in the league. It looked good early as Valga took a 2-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then TU/Rock had a 22-17 second period charge getting the lead and Valga was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 67-89. TU/Rock dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Valga's 14 and made 17-of-22 charity shots (77.3 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Valga 42-29 including a 29-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. Valga was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. The winners were led by American forward Forrest Robinson (208-93, college: De Paul) who scored that evening 21 points and 8 rebounds and Janar Talts (205-83) supported him with 19 points and 5 rebounds. Four TU/Rock players scored in double figures. TU/Rock's coach Gert Kullamae felt very confident that he used 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Even 13 points by point guard Kristo Saage (187-85) did not help to save the game for Valga. Ivars Rihards Zvigurs (198-95) added 10 points and 5 rebounds for lost side. TU/Rock have a solid three-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader. Valga at the other side keeps the second place with one game lost. They share the position with TTU. TU/Rock will play against Audentese/N. (#7) in Tallinn in the next round where they are favorite. Valga will play at home against Rapla (#4) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
