Regular Season Round 5: Kouvot - KTP Basket 93-79

Another interesting game for Kouvot (1-2) which hosted in Kouvola against 4th placed KTP-Basket (2-3). Seventh ranked Kouvot had an easy win 93-79. It was a very close game until the last quarter, when Kouvot's pressure prevailed and they won that period 23-15 extending their advantage to 14 points. The former international Ville Kaunisto (204-82, agency: Court Side) stepped up and scored 20 points and 9 rebounds for the winners and American guard Raheem Appleby (190-93, college: Louisiana Tech) chipped in 20 points and 7 assists (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line). Five Kouvot players scored in double figures. Kouvot's coach Antti Hurri allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. American Monyea Pratt (196-85, college: Stillman, agency: Pro Partner Sports Management) responded with a triple-double by scoring 18 points, 12 rebounds and 12 assists and Jamaica-American power forward Sherman Gay (201-82, college: Loyola Mary) scored 24 points (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field). Defending champion maintains seventh place with 1-2 record. KTP-Basket at the other side dropped to the sixth position with three games lost. Kouvot will play against league's leader Helsinki Seagulls on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. KTP-Basket will have a break next round.
