Regular Season Round 7: Tinguiririca S.F. - Puerto Montt 66-68

Bottom-ranked Puerto Montt managed to get the third consecutive victory on Friday night. This time they edged ninth-ranked Tinguiririca S.F. in San Fernando 68-66. Tinguiririca S.F. was trailing by 4 points at halftime but managed to get 1-point lead after three quarters before a 15-12 charge of Puerto Montt, which allowed them to win the game. It was a great evening for American power forward Mike Phillips (201-90, college: Howard) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 15 rebounds. His fellow American import guard Louis Munks (190-90, college: Prairie View A&M) helped adding 17 points and 8 rebounds. At the losing side Argentinian power forward Juan Luis Abeiro (196-88) responded with 19 points and 9 rebounds and the former international guard Jorge Vasquez (185-86) produced a double-double by scoring 15 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Puerto Montt have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain twelfth place with 3-3 record. Tinguiririca S.F. lost sixth consecutive game. They keep the ninth position with seven games lost. Puerto Montt will meet higher ranked Puente Alto (#7) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Tinguiririca S.F. will play against Deportivo Valdivia and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
