Regular Season Round 4: Leiden - Den Bosch 66-56
Date: October 22, 2016
Bottom-ranked Dukes UDB (0-4) is still winless. But it was rather predictable considering how strong their opponent was. This time they lost on the road their fourth consecutive match to top-ranked Leiden (4-0) 66-56. The game was mostly controlled by Leiden. Dukes UDB was better in second period 17-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Dukes UDB to just 5 points in third quarter. It was a very good performance for the former international Jessey Voorn (197-90, agency: Court Side) who helped to win the game recording 19 points and 6 assists. The former international center Thomas Koenis (210-89, agency: Court Side) contributed with 14 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Point guard Maarten Bouwknecht (185-94) replied with 22 points and 4 assists and the former international forward Stefan Wessels (203-84) added 14 points and 11 rebounds in the effort for Dukes UDB. Leiden have a solid four-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Groningen and Zwolle. Dukes UDB at the other side still closes the standings with four games lost. Leiden's next round opponent will be league's leader Groningen on the road and it will be for sure the game of the week. Dukes UDB will play against Amsterdam (#4) and looks forward to get finally their first victory.
