Regular Season Round 6: Bembibre - Gran Canaria 69-68

Bottom-ranked Gran Canaria (0-6) is still winless. This time they lost on the road their sixth consecutive match to fourth ranked Socinsa Bembibre (4-2) 69-68 on Saturday evening. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 23-13. But Gran Canaria won second period 17-16. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The best player for the winners was American point guard Brianna Banks (175-93, college: Penn St.) who scored 19 points and 9 rebounds. The other American import forward Ariel Edwards (190-92, college: Penn St.) chipped in 18 points (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line). Four Socinsa Bembibre players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was Mali center Mariam Coulibaly (183-97) who recorded a double-double by scoring 18 points and 19 rebounds and Czech forward Michaela Stejskalova (186-87) added 18 points respectively. Socinsa Bembibre maintains fourth position with 4-2 record, which they share with Araski. Gran Canaria at the other side still closes the standings with six games lost. Socinsa Bembibre will meet Zamarat (#13) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Gran Canaria will play against Cadi La Seu and hopes to get finally their first victory.
