Regular Season Round 6: Astoria Bydg. - Kotwica 84-79

Astoria Bydg.'s fans can finally celebrate the first win of their team after five consecutive loses. The victory is especially important as they defeated much higher ranked Kotwica (4-2) 84-79. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Kotwica won third quarter 28-15. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Astoria Bydg. made 16-of-21 charity shots (76.2 percent) during the game. Point guard Patryk Gospodarek (184-94, agency: Octagon Europe) scored 19 points and 5 assists to lead the charge for the winners and forward Filip Czyznielewski (198-91) chipped in 11 points and 11 rebounds during the contest. Astoria Bydg.'s coach Konrad Kazmierczyk allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. The best for the losing side was forward Pawel Pawlowski (196-82) with 23 points and 7 rebounds and point guard Artur Wlodarczyk (180-96) scored 9 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists. Astoria Bydg. (1-5) left bottom position moving up to twelfth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Newly promoted Kotwica keeps the fourth position with two games lost. They share it with 3 other teams. Astoria Bydg. will play against league's leader Sokol Lancut on the road in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Kotwica will play against Legia W-wa and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
