Regular Season Round 9: Kagoshima - Hiroshima D. 75-89

Rather expected game when 5th ranked Kagoshima (1-8) lost to second ranked Dragonflies (7-2) in Renova 75-89 on Saturday. Kagoshima trailed 46-44 at halftime, rallying from a 29-16 deficit at the end of first quarter to trim the gap. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Dragonflies made 9 blocks. It was a good game for guard Seiji Ikaruga (185-94) who led his team to a victory with 19 points and 7 rebounds. Australia-Trinidad and Tobago guard Daniel Dillon (193-86, college: Arizona) contributed with 15 points and 6 assists for the winners. Five Dragonflies players scored in double figures. Canadian center Chad Posthumus (211-91, college: Morehead St.) answered with a double-double by scoring 31 points and 19 rebounds and point guard Kazuto Sameshima (171-92) added 5 points and 8 assists in the effort for Kagoshima. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Dragonflies keep a position of league leader, which they share with Gunma and Kumamoto V. Kagoshima lost their sixth game in a row. They keep the fifth place with eight games lost. Dragonflies will have a break next round. Kagoshima will play again at home against the league's second-placed Dragonflies (#2) and hope to win that game.
