Regular Season Round 6: Gernika - Avenida 62-51

There was a change at the LFB leadership position after last games. Round 6 most important game was a defeat of Perfumerias Avenida (5-1). They were defeated by third ranked Gernika (5-1) 62-51 on Saturday night. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Perfumerias Avenida. It was a key game for the second position in the league. The game was mostly controlled by Gernika. Perfumerias Avenida managed to win second period 13-7. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The former international power forward Maria Pina (187-87) scored 15 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists to lead the charge for the winners and American Amisha Carter (186-82, college: Louisiana Tech, agency: Josep and Nicolas) chipped in 13 points and 12 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was Nigeria-American forward Adaora Elonu (185-90, college: Texas A&M, agency: Josep and Nicolas) with 18 points and 5 rebounds and the former international point guard Silvia Dominguez (166-87) scored 5 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists. Gernika have an impressive five-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Avenida. Perfumerias Avenida will play next round against Universitario de Ferrol trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Gernika will try to continue on its current victory against eighth ranked Campus Promete in Logrono.
