No shocking result in a game when ninth ranked Tinguiririca S.F. (3-7) beat 11th ranked Deportivo Valdivia (5-2) in San Fernando 84-73 on Saturday. The hosts were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. Tinguiririca S.F. forced 23 Deportivo Valdivia turnovers. Deportivo Valdivia was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. Argentinian power forward Juan Luis Abeiro (196-88) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 29 points and 12 rebounds. Point guard Francisco Pavez (178-92) contributed with 11 points, 6 assists and 4 steals for the winners. Four Tinguiririca S.F. players scored in double figures. The former international guard Erik Carrasco (181-83) replied with a double-double by scoring 10 points, 7 rebounds, 11 assists and 4 steals and American Durrell Summers (193-89, college: Michigan St.) added 23 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Deportivo Valdivia. Deportivo Valdivia's coach let to play ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Tinguiririca S.F. moved-up to seventh place. Loser Deportivo Valdivia keeps the eleventh position with two games lost. Tinguiririca S.F. will face higher ranked Las Animas (#5) in Valdivia in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Deportivo Valdivia will play at home against Universidad Catolica (#10) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
