Regular Season Round 9: Fukushima - Aomori Watts 88-80

Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both fifth ranked Fukushima and 4th placed Aomori Watts had identical 4-4 record. This time Fukushima used a home court advantage and won against the opponent from Aomori 88-80 on Saturday night. The hosts trailed by 8 points after three quarters before their 33-17 charge, which allowed them to win the game. It was a good game for American center Nigel Spikes (208-89, college: Marshall) who led his team to a victory with 20 points and 7 rebounds. His fellow American import guard Cedric Bozeman (198-83, college: UCLA) contributed with 18 points (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line) for the winners. Four Fukushima players scored in double figures. Fukushima's coach Tomohiro Moriyama used a ten-player rotation saving starting five for next games. American forward Alan Wiggins (206-85, college: USF) answered with a double-double by scoring 30 points and 11 rebounds and guard Daichi Shimoyama (181-89) added 11 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Aomori Watts. Fukushima (5-4) moved-up to second place, which they share with Cyberdyne IR and Yamagata. Aomori Watts lost their third game in a row. They dropped to the third position with five games lost. Fukushima will face again Aomori Watts (#5) at home in the next round.
