Regular Season Round 5: Aalstar - Limburg United 105-79
Date: October 22, 2016
Very expected game when 8th ranked Limburg United (1-4) was crushed on the road by fourth ranked Okapi Aalstar (4-1) 105-79 on Saturday. The best player for the winners was the former international swingman Olivier Troisfontaines (192-89, agency: LBM Management) who scored 22 points and 6 rebounds (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line). American Bill Amis (206-87, college: Hawaii, agency: Pensack Sports) chipped in 12 points and 8 rebounds. Troisfontaines is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Okapi Aalstar players scored in double figures. American forward Daniel Jansen (206-94, college: Augustana, SD) produced 25 points and 9 rebounds (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line) and the former international swingman Elias Lasisi (192-92) added 13 points respectively for the guests. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Okapi Aalstar. They moved-up to second place. Limburg United lost their third game in a row. They keep the eighth position with four games lost. They share it with Spirou and Liege. Okapi Aalstar will meet at home Belfius Mons-Hainaut (#6) in the next round. Limburg United will play against the league's leader Antwerp Giants and hope to win that game.
