Regular Season Round 6: GKS Tychy - Znicz Basket 74-73

Rather predictable result when ninth ranked GKS Tychy (3-3) edged at home 13th ranked Znicz Basket (1-5) 74-73 on Saturday. However just one-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Znicz Basket trailed by 11 points after 3 quarters before a 21-11 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 73-74 at the end of the game. GKS Tychy looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when GKS Tychy made 8 blocks. It was a good game for power forward Tomasz Bzdyra (200-83) who saved his team from a defeat with 16 points and 5 rebounds. Point guard Wojciech Zub (185-95) contributed with 15 points (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) for the winners. GKS Tychy's coach Tomasz Jagielka used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Guard Adrian Kordalski (185-95) replied with 17 points and 6 assists and center Damian Cechniak (208-93) added 17 points in the effort for Znicz Basket. GKS Tychy have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Notec Inowr. and SKK Siedlce. Znicz Basket lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the twelfth position with five games lost. GKS Tychy will face higher ranked GTK Gliwice (#4) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Znicz Basket will play against Nysa Klodzko (#14) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
