There was a surprise result when ninth ranked Basket Esch (1-3) beat at home higher ranked Musel Pikes (2-2) 82-76 on Saturday. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 23-5. But Musel Pikes won third quarter 28-15. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Basket Esch dominated on the defensive end, holding Musel Pikes to just 5 points in first quarter. They outrebounded Musel Pikes 30-17 including 24 on the defensive glass. Serbian-Hungarian swingman Momcilo Latinovic (198-89, college: N.Mexico Highlands, agency: Mansfield and Associates) fired 31 points for the winners. The former international swingman Patrick Arbaut (186-87) chipped in 13 points and 4 assists. American power forward Clancy Rugg (203-91, college: Vermont, agency: Pro Partner Sports Management) produced 21 points and 7 rebounds (made all of his eight free throws) and international forward Jean Kox (196-90) added 21 points (made all of his seven free throws) respectively for lost side. Basket Esch left bottom position moving up to seventh place, which they share with Residence. Loser Musel Pikes keeps the fifth position with two games lost. Basket Esch will face Arantia (#9) in Larochette in the next round. Musel Pikes will play at home against the league's leader Contern (#1) having rather not much hope for a victory.
