Regular Season Round 5: CCC Polkowice - Artego Bydg. 73-66

Very important is a road loss of third ranked Artego Bydg. (3-2) against fourth ranked CCC Polkowice (4-1) on Saturday night. Visiting Artego Bydg. was defeated by CCC Polkowice in a tough game in Polkowice 66-73. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Artego Bydg.. It was a key game for the top position in the league. It looked good early as Artego Bydg. took a 2-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then CCC Polkowice had a 16-6 second period charge getting the lead and Artego Bydg. was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 66-73. CCC Polkowice dominated on the defensive end, holding Artego Bydg. to just 6 points in second quarter. They made 23-of-24 charity shots (95.8 percent) during the game. Russia power forward Raisa Musina (191-98) nailed a double-double by scoring 19 points and 11 rebounds for the winning side and the former international center Magdalena Leciejewska (191-86) accounted for 14 points and 5 rebounds (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line). Jamaica-American point guard Maurita Reid (172-85, college: Miami, FL) came up with 21 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists and American forward Denesha Stallworth (190-92, college: Kentucky, agency: LBM Management) added 15 points and 8 rebounds respectively for Artego Bydg. in the defeat. CCC Polkowice keeps a position of league leader, which they share with 3 other teams. Artego Bydg. at the other side dropped to the fifth place with two games lost. They share the position with 3 other teams. CCC Polkowice will play against league's second-placed Wisla Can-Pack in Krakow in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week.
