Regular Season Round 7: Denso Iris - Niigata R. 97-63

Very expected game in Kariya where bottom-ranked Niigata R. (0-5) was crushed by fifth ranked Denso Iris (4-1) 97-63 on Saturday. The game without a history. Denso Iris led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Denso Iris outrebounded Niigata R. 46-33 including 19 on the offensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists. It was a great evening for the former international power forward Maki Takada (183-89) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 11 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field). International center Sakura Akaho (182-96) helped adding 17 points and 8 rebounds. Four Denso Iris players scored in double figures. At the losing side Hatanaka Miho (177-85) responded with 14 points and 6 rebounds and swingman Sangi Kanade (169-86) scored 11 points. Niigata R.'s coach gave up on the game allowing to play eleven players seeing no chance for a win. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Denso Iris. They moved-up to third place, which they share with Chanson V-M. Niigata R. lost their fifth game in a row. They still close the standings with five games lost. Denso Iris will face again Niigata R. (#11) in Tokyo in the next round and are hoping to win another game.
