Regular Season Round 9: Olimpico LB - Atenas 74-83

Very important is a home loss of third ranked Olimpico de La Banda (5-4) against ninth ranked Atenas (3-6) on Sunday night. Host Olimpico de La Banda was defeated by Atenas in a tough game in La Banda 74-83. Olimpico de La Banda trailed by 11 points at halftime and as many as 22 after three quarters before a 25-12 last quarter charge cut the deficit to 74-83 at the end of the game. It was a great shooting night for Atenas especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 55.6 percentage. The best player for the winners was American forward Pete Mickeal (199-78, college: Cincinnati) who had a double-double by scoring 24 points and 13 rebounds. His fellow American import Walter Baxley (193-84, college: Mars Hill) chipped in 22 points. At the other side the best for losing team was American power forward Justin Williams (206-84, college: Wyoming, agency: DTMones) who recorded a double-double by scoring 11 points, 18 rebounds and 7 blocks and guard Luciano Massarelli (183-93) added 15 points respectively. Atenas moved-up to eighth place in Norte. Loser Olimpico de La Banda dropped to the fourth position with four games lost. Atenas will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Olimpico de La Banda will play against Instituto (#5) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
