Regular Season Round 13: Halcones - Aguilas 62-86

Another exciting game was a derby match between two teams from Panama City: Aguilas (#5) and Halcones (#3). Halcones were crushed at home by 24 points 62-86 and even the advantage of their own court did not help. Halcones were ahead by 4 points at the halftime before a 51-23 second half run of Aguilas. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Halcones to just 7 points in fourth quarter. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. Halcones were plagued by 35 personal fouls down the stretch. Swingman Jonathan King (198-90, college: Abil.Christian) nailed a triple-double by scoring 19 points, 12 rebounds, 10 assists and 5 steals for the winning side and the former international forward Josimar Ayarza (205-87, college: S.Mississippi) accounted for 22 points. Four Aguilas players scored in double figures. International power forward Antonio Garcia (202-76, college: Ky Wesleyan) came up with 6 points and 12 rebounds and swingman Abid Oses (198-95, college: Antelope Valley CC) added 16 points (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) respectively for Halcones in the defeat. Halcones' coach gave up on the game allowing to play eleven players seeing no chance for a win. Aguilas (6-7) moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Caballos. Halcones at the other side keep the third position with six games lost. Aguilas will play against league's leader Correcaminos in Colon in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Halcones' supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Panama City Panteras.
