Regular Season Round 8: Yamanashi QB - Mitsubishi K. 59-77

Bottom-ranked Yamanashi QB (0-6) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 77-59 loss to ninth ranked Mitsubishi K. (3-3) in Yamanashi. It looked good early as Yamanashi QB took a 2-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Mitsubishi K. had a 23-16 second period charge getting the lead and Yamanashi QB was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 59-77. They outrebounded Yamanashi QB 68-41 including a 31-20 advantage in offensive rebounds. Mitsubishi K. brought some defensive toughness making 9 blocks. The winners were led by power forward Yuka Kosuge (180-91) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 14 points, 16 rebounds and 4 assists (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) and the former international swingman Aya Watanabe (170-92) supported her with 16 points and 12 rebounds. Mitsubishi K.'s coach allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Even 17 points and 5 rebounds by guard Miki Huzii (165-87) did not help to save the game for Yamanashi QB. Center Rr En (184-94) added 10 points and 7 rebounds for the hosts. Mitsubishi K. moved-up to seventh place. Newly promoted Yamanashi QB still closes the standings with six games lost. Mitsubishi K.'s next round opponent will be Aishin Wings (#10) in Anjo. Yamanashi QB will play on the road against Chanson V-M in Shizuoka and looks forward to get finally their first victory.
