Regular Season Round 4: Azkoitia - Aros Leon 59-73

LF2 top team - Aros Leon (4-0) managed to deliver another win on Sunday. This time they beat fifth ranked Azkoitia (2-2) in Azpeitia 73-59. The game was mostly controlled by Aros Leon. Azkoitia was better in second period 17-12. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Aros Leon dominated down low during the game scoring 38 of its points in the paint compared to Azkoitia's 18. Worth to mention a quality performance of point guard Paloma Gonzalez (172-99) who helped to win the game recording 17 points and 5 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) and guard Patricia Benet (170-88) who added 16 points and 6 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side American forward Janee Johnson (185, college: Seton Hall) responded with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 rebounds and her fellow American import guard Tamara Taylor (178-93, college: S.Florida) scored 15 points. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Aros Leon have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain first position in Group A with 4-0 record. Loser Azkoitia keeps the fifth place with two games lost. Aros Leon will face Sant Adria (#4) in Sant Adria de Besos in the next round. Azkoitia will play on the road against Segle XXI in Barcelona and hope to win that game and get promotion back to the LFB just one year after relegation.
