Tenth-ranked Libertad Sunchales (1-4) gave a tough game to third ranked San Martin Corrientes (7-2) on Sunday. The visitors from Corrientes managed to secure only one-point victory 101-100. However their fans expected much easier game. The guests trailed by 2 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 4-point lead at the halftime then Libertad Sunchales managed to tie the game at the end of regular time. However that was San Martin Corrientes who were better in overtime eventually winning that period 12-11. San Martin Corrientes outrebounded Libertad Sunchales 49-23 including a 37-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. Libertad Sunchales was plagued by 32 personal fouls down the stretch. International Leonardo Mainoldi (203-85) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 17 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners and American power forward Jeremiah Wood (200-85, agency: Inception Sports) chipped in 17 points and 12 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field). The best for the losing side was the former international Sebastian Vega (200-88) with 23 points and 4 assists and international point guard Juan Brussino (185-91) scored 18 points and 8 assists. Five San Martin Corrientes and four Libertad Sunchales players scored in double figures. San Martin Corrientes moved-up to second place in Norte. Libertad Sunchales lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the tenth position with four games lost. San Martin Corrientes' supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Corrientes to the arena Regatas Corrientes.
