CB Canarias (4-1) recorded its first loss in Tenerife. Hosts were edged by ninth ranked Unicaja Malaga (3-2) 73-72. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of CB Canarias. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But CB Canarias won third quarter 22-19. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. American guard Jamar Smith (191-87, college: S.Indiana, agency: Inception Sports) stepped up and scored 20 points (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) for the winners and Serbian center Dejan Musli (213-91, agency: BeoBasket) chipped in 15 points and 5 rebounds. The former international center Fran Vazquez (209-83) responded with 12 points and 8 rebounds and Canadian-Dutch forward Aaron Doornekamp (201-85, agency: Interperformances) scored 13 points and 5 rebounds. Four CB Canarias players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Unicaja Malaga have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to eighth place. CB Canarias at the other side dropped to the second position with one game lost. They share it with Baskonia and Dominion BB. Unicaja Malaga will play against league's second-placed Baskonia in Vitoria in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. CB Canarias will play on the road against Dominion BB in Bilbao and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
