The biggest surprise took place in Padova where host Padova (3-1) crushed Faenza (3-1) 77-56 on Sunday evening. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Faenza. It was a key game for the top position in the league. Padova made 19-of-24 free shots (79.2 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Faenza 41-26 including a 35-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. Forward Marco Lazzaro (198-92) fired 21 points for the winners. Matteo Ferrara (-97) chipped in 11 points and 9 rebounds. Four Padova players scored in double figures. Swingman Riccardo Iattoni (198-92) produced 15 points and 8 rebounds and point guard Marco Perin (183-93) added 11 points respectively for lost side. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Padova keeps a position of league leader, which they share with 16 other teams including defeated Faenza. Faenza will play next round against Desio trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Padova will try to continue on its current victory against fourteenth ranked San Vendemiano at home.
