Regular Season Round 3: Maccabi Rishon - Bnei Hertzeliyya 89-73

The game in Rishon Le-Zion was also worth to mention about. Bnei Hasharon (1-2) played at the court of Maccabi Rishon (2-1). Maccabi Rishon defeated Bnei Hasharon 89-73. It looked good early as Bnei Hasharon took a 3-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Maccabi Rishon had a 23-10 second period charge getting the lead and Bnei Hasharon was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 73-89. Maccabi Rishon dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Bnei Hasharon's 32 and made 20-of-25 charity shots (80.0 percent) during the game. Maccabi Rishon players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists. 29 personal fouls committed by Bnei Hasharon helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was international power forward Idan Zalmanson (206-95) who scored 17 points. International Elishay Kadir (202-87) chipped in 10 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. Four Maccabi Rishon players scored in double figures. Maccabi Rishon's coach Arik Shivek allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. At the other side the best for losing team was American forward Jeff Adrien (201-86, college: Connecticut) who recorded 16 points and 8 rebounds and American-Montenegrin forward Halil Kanacevic (203-91, college: St.Joseph's) added 13 points and 7 rebounds respectively. Maccabi Rishon's next round opponent will be Maccabi K/G (#12) in Kiryat Gat and are hoping to win another game. Bnei Hasharon will play at home against Hapoel Eilat (#9) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
