Regular Season Round 9: Quimsa - Instituto 88-65

LigaA top team - Quimsa (8-3) had no problems winning another game. This time they crushed sixth ranked Instituto (4-4) in Santiado Estero 88-65. It looked good early as Instituto took a 1-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Quimsa had a 16-10 second period charge getting the lead and Instituto was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 65-88. Quimsa made 17-of-19 charity shots (89.5 percent) during the game. They also forced 19 Instituto turnovers. It was a good game for naturalized American guard Phillip Hopson (188-88, college: Idaho) who led his team to a victory with 12 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists. American center Robert Battle (205-81, college: Drexel, agency: DTMones) contributed with 13 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Five Quimsa players scored in double figures. Quimsa's coach Silvio Jose Santander felt very confident that he used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American center Sam Clancy (202-80, college: USC, agency: DTMones) answered with 16 points and 9 rebounds and the other American import swingman Rodney Green (196-88, college: La Salle) added 14 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Instituto. Quimsa maintains first place in Norte with 8-3 record. Instituto at the other side dropped to the fifth position with four games lost. Quimsa's next round opponent will be Echague (#9) in Parana and are hoping to win another game. Instituto will play on the road against Olimpico de La Banda (#4) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
