Regular Season Round 6: Pogon RS - Polonia Bytom 85-84

A very interesting game took place in Ruda Slaska. It ended with only one-point defeat on the road of 6th ranked Polonia Bytom (3-3) to eighth ranked Pogon RS (3-2) 85-84 on Wednesday evening. Pogon RS forced 21 Polonia Bytom turnovers. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists. It was a good game for center Tomasz Stankala (202-91) who saved his team from a defeat with 24 points and 8 rebounds. Forward Przemyslaw Tomecki (196-88) contributed with 17 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Forward Tomasz Gembus (197-87) replied with 15 points and 8 rebounds and point guard Tomasz Wrobel (186-85) added 20 points in the effort for Polonia Bytom. Four Pogon RS and five Polonia Bytom players scored in double figures. Polonia Bytom's coach Radoslaw Kucinski rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Pogon RS have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to fourth place in Group C, which they share with MCKiS Jaworz. and Rybnik. Polonia Bytom lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the seventh position with three games lost. Pogon RS's next round opponent will be higher ranked AZS KU PO (#3) in Opole and it may be the game of the week. Polonia Bytom will play at home against the league's leader AZS PK (#1) and hope to win that game.
