Rather predictable result when eighth ranked Gniezno (3-3) smashed at home 11th ranked AZS PP (1-5) 99-71 on Wednesday. Gniezno dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to AZS PP's 28 and made 25-of-32 free shots (78.1 percent) during the game. Gniezno forced 21 AZS PP turnovers and outrebounded them 48-21 including a 21-10 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. AZS PP was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. Center Szymon Budnikowski (200-84) had a double-double by scoring 23 points and 15 rebounds (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line) to lead the charge for the winners and Michal Szydlowski (197-87) chipped in 6 points, 15 rebounds and 5 assists during the contest. The best for the losing side was Jakub Rogulski (195-94) with 18 points and 9 rebounds and Maciej Krzyminski (184-97) scored 20 points and 4 steals. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Gniezno moved-up to sixth place in Group A, which they share with Tarnovia. AZS PP lost fifth consecutive game. They dropped to the twelfth position with five games lost. Gniezno will face Suchy Las (#10) in Poznan in the next round. AZS PP will play at home against Goleniow and hope to win that game.
