Regular Season Round 4: Gorizont II - Gorizont 43-93

Another interesting game was a derby match between two teams from Minsk: Gorizont (#2) and Gorizont II (#7). Gorizont II was smashed at home by 50 points 43-93 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. The game without a history. Gorizont led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Gorizont II to just 4 points in fourth quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Gorizont II's 24. They also forced 28 Gorizont II turnovers and outrebounded them 51-25 including a 21-8 advantage in offensive rebounds. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 25 assists comparing to just 8 passes made by Gorizont II's players. Worth to mention a great performance of guard Volha Gromik (180-93) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 12 points and 19 rebounds and the former international forward Yuliya Rytsikava (182-86) who added 18 points and 4 steals during the contest. Four Gorizont players scored in double figures. At the losing side forward Daryna Bachkarova (182-0) responded with 12 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals (made all of her eight free throws) and Darya Semiletnikova scored 10 points. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Gorizont have a solid three-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains second position with 3-0 record behind leader Tsmoki-Minsk. Gorizont II at the other side still closes the standings with four games lost. They will play against Olimpia GrGAU (#3) in Grodno in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Gorizont II will play at home against BrGU COR Victoria (#6) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
