Very important is a road loss of third ranked Penarol (6-3) against seventh ranked Argentino (4-5) on Thursday night. Visiting Penarol was defeated by Argentino in Junin 83-70. The game was mostly controlled by Argentino. Penarol managed to win fourth quarter 23-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Argentino looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Mateo Bolivar (187-92) scored 14 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists to lead the charge for the winners and swingman Emiliano Basabe (193-92) chipped in 11 points and 13 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side point guard Nicolas Zurschmitten (183-95) responded with 17 points and 4 assists and Chilean guard Sebastian Suarez (193-91, college: Portland St.) scored 14 points and 5 rebounds. Five Argentino and four Penarol players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Argentino maintains seventh position in Sur with 4-5 record. Loser Penarol dropped to the fourth place with three games lost. Argentino will meet higher ranked Ferrocarril (#3) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Penarol will play against the league's second-placed Weber Bahia having rather not much hope for a victory.
