Regular Season Round 11: Toshiba BT - San-en 81-87

Date: October 28, 2016
The game had a very big importance for first-ranked Sanen Neophoenix as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Sanen Neophoenix defeated second-ranked Toshiba Thunders in Kanagawa 87-81. It may be a crucial game in the contest for the top position in the league. Toshiba Thunders were ahead by 6 points at the halftime before a 29-14 third quarter run of Sanen Neophoenix. It was a great evening for Nigeria-Canadian Olu Ashaolu (200-88, college: Oregon) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 13 rebounds. Point guard Tatsuya Suzuki (169-91) helped adding 11 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Four Sanen Neophoenix players scored in double figures. American forward Nick Fazekas (211-85, college: Nevada) responded with a double-double by scoring 34 points (!!!) and 14 rebounds and the other American import forward Ryan Spangler (203-91, college: Oklahoma) produced a double-double by scoring 10 points, 12 rebounds and 7 assists. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. As mentioned above they took over a top position. Toshiba Thunders at the other side still keep top place with three games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
