Regular Season Round 6: Armann - IA 65-88

IA's fans can finally celebrate the first win of their team after four consecutive losses. The victory is especially important as it came on the road game in Reykjavik, where they outplayed Armann (0-6) 88-65. They outrebounded Armann 42-31 including 31 on the defensive glass. American guard Derek Shouse (188-93, college: Mo.-St.Louis) had a double-double by scoring 40 points (!!!), 13 rebounds and 5 assists to lead the charge for the winners and center Jon Kristjansson (197-83) chipped in 13 points and 14 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was guard Geir Thorvaldsson (182-83) with 15 points and Dagur Palsson scored 11 points and 5 rebounds. Armann's coach Tomas Hermannsson gave up on the game allowing to play eleven players seeing no chance for a win. IA (1-4) left bottom position moving up to seventh place. It was Armann's sixth loss in a row. They still close the standings with six games lost. IA will play against higher ranked Valur (#4) in Reykjavik in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Armann will play on the road against the league's leader Hottur (#1) where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
