First defeat of Contern (4-1) against sixth ranked Musel Pikes (3-2) 95-92 was the most important game of the last round. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Contern. Musel Pikes forced 19 Contern turnovers. Strangely Contern outrebounded Musel Pikes 45-33 including 33 on the defensive glass. American players dominated the game. Swingman Jarmar Gulley (196-91, college: Missouri St., agency: Pro Partner Sports Management) orchestrated the victory by scoring 34 points (!!!) and 7 rebounds. Power forward Clancy Rugg (203-91, college: Vermont, agency: Pro Partner Sports Management) contributed with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. Guard Jesse Morgan (196-91, college: Temple) answered with 39 points (!!!) and 6 rebounds and swingman Manny Atkins (198-91, college: Georgia St.) added 24 points and 14 rebounds in the effort for Contern. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Musel Pikes moved-up to fifth place. Contern at the other side still keeps top position with one game lost. They were joined at the leadership position by Amicale who have the same record. Contern will play next round against strong Sparta trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Musel Pikes will try to continue on its current victory against fourth ranked Etzella in Ettelbruck.
