Regular Season Round 14: Halcones - Panteras 75-68

The most interesting game was a derby match between two local teams from Panama City: Halcones (#3) and Panteras (#2). Halcones (8-6) won against visiting Panteras (8-6) 75-68. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Panteras won third quarter 21-19. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The best player for the winners was naturalized American Ryan Abrahams (191-81, college: Hawaii-Hilo) who scored 18 points. Puerto Rican guard Ricardo Melendez (179-83) chipped in 21 points. Four Halcones players scored in double figures. Swingman Luis Dinolis (185-93, college: Broward CC) produced 18 points and forward Josimar Blenman (200-89, college: Globe Tech JC) added 8 points and 8 rebounds respectively for the guests. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Halcones moved-up to second place, which they share with defeated Panteras. Panteras lost third consecutive game. Halcones is looking forward to face league's leader Correcaminos in Colon in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Panteras will play at home against Caballos and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
