The biggest surprise of round 11 in B League D2 was guest Kumamoto V.'s (9-2) road victory over Shimane Magic (#3) 71-70 on Saturday evening. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Shimane Magic. It was a key game for the top position in the league. The guests trailed by 8 points after three quarters before their 23-14 charge, which allowed them to win the game. The best player for the winners was point guard Takumi Furuno (179-93) who scored 18 points and 6 assists. American forward Joel James (208-94, college: N.Carolina) chipped in 18 points and 7 rebounds. Point guard Edward Yamamoto (173-86) produced 14 points and 6 assists and American center Wayne Marshall (211-86, college: Temple) added 11 points, 9 rebounds and 4 blocks respectively for the hosts. Four Shimane Magic players scored in double figures. Kumamoto V. have an impressive series of six victories in a row. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Hiroshima D. and Gunma. Shimane Magic at the other side keeps the third place with three games lost. Kumamoto V. will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Shimane Magic will play again at home against the league's second-placed Kumamoto V. and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
