Regular Season Round 11: San Lorenzo - Quilmes MP 78-61

Date: October 29, 2016
Rather predictable result when fifth ranked San Lorenzo (6-2) won against 9th ranked Quilmes MP (4-9) in Almagra 78-61 on Saturday. Quilmes MP was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. San Lorenzo dominated on the defensive end, holding Quilmes MP to just 2 points in fourth quarter. They outrebounded Quilmes MP 38-27 including 32 on the defensive glass. The former international point guard Santiago Scala (186-91) orchestrated the victory by scoring 12 points and 7 assists. Georgia-Puerto Rican guard Guillermo Diaz (188-85, college: Miami, FL) contributed with 15 points for the winners. Four San Lorenzo players scored in double figures. International power forward Ivan Basualdo (202-90) answered with 17 points (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) and guard Bruno Sansimoni (190-96) added 14 points in the effort for Quilmes MP. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. San Lorenzo have a solid series of three victories in a row. Defending champion moved-up to fourth place in Sur. Loser Quilmes MP dropped to the eighth position with nine games lost. San Lorenzo will face Boca Juniors (#9) in Buenos Aires in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Quilmes MP will play at home against the league's second-placed Weber Bahia and hope to win that game.
