Regular Season Round 11: Aomori Watts - Iwate Big Bulls 70-61

The game between closely ranked teams ended with 6th ranked Iwate Big Bulls' (1-10) road loss to fifth ranked Aomori Watts (5-6) 61-70 on Saturday. The hosts were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. Aomori Watts forced 20 Iwate Big Bulls turnovers. Strangely Iwate Big Bulls outrebounded Aomori Watts 49-31 including a 21-9 advantage in offensive rebounds. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Aomori Watts made 7 blocks. Iwate Big Bulls were plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. The game was dominated by American players. The best player for the winners was forward Alan Wiggins (206-85, college: USF) who scored 15 points and 7 rebounds. Center Kyle Barone (208-89, college: Idaho) chipped in 14 points, 8 rebounds and 5 blocks. Four Aomori Watts players scored in double figures. Center Donald Lawson (208-88, college: W.Michigan) produced a double-double by scoring 18 points and 20 rebounds and power forward Nicchaeus Doaks (201-87, college: Chattanooga) added 12 points and 11 rebounds respectively for the guests. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Aomori Watts maintains fifth place with 5-6 record. Loser Iwate Big Bulls keep the sixth position with ten games lost. Aomori Watts will face again Iwate Big Bulls (#6) at home in the next round.
