Regular Season Round 11: Fukushima - Gunma 64-70

An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Fukushima. First ranked Gunma faced second-ranked Fukushima. Guests from Gunma (9-2) defeated host Fukushima (6-5) 70-64. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Fukushima. Fukushima was tied at the half but could not keep up in last two quarters eventually losing the game. It was an exceptional evening for point guard Masashi Obuchi (182-83) who led the winners and scored 13 points and 8 rebounds. Nigeria forward Abdullahi Kuso (206-84, college: Tallahassee CC) accounted for 10 points and 6 rebounds for the winning side. Four Gunma players scored in double figures. Guard Shota Kanno (187-92) came up with 20 points and point guard Shinya Murakami (172-91) added 11 points and 4 assists respectively for Fukushima in the defeat. The victory was the eighth consecutive win for Gunma. They maintain first place with 9-2 record, which they share with Hiroshima D. and Kumamoto V. Fukushima at the other side keeps the second position with five games lost. Gunma will have a break next round. Fukushima will play again at home against the league's leader Gunma and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
