There was a surprise result when thirteenth ranked Fiorentina (1-4) defeated higher ranked Sangiorgese (3-2) in Firenze 67-61 on Saturday. Swingman Davide Poltroneri (195-85) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 10 rebounds. Point guard Giacomo Bloise (183-90) contributed with 15 points for the winners. Guard Simone Tomasini (196-93) answered with 26 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists and forward Daniele Mario Benzoni (196-80) added 17 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Sangiorgese. Fiorentina maintains thirteenth place in B with 1-4 record, which they share with Iseo and Piacenza. Loser Sangiorgese dropped to the fourth position with two games lost. Fiorentina will face higher ranked Domodossola (#12) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Sangiorgese will play against Siena Virtus (#11) and hope to win that game.
