Regular Season Round 14: Caballos - Toros 74-82

Bottom-ranked Toros managed to get the second consecutive victory on Saturday night. This time they won against fourth-ranked Caballos in Aguadulce 82-74. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Caballos. Caballos were trailing by 2 points at halftime but managed to get 4-point lead after three quarters before a 25-13 charge of Toros, which allowed them to win the game. Strangely Caballos outrebounded Toros 42-28 including a 23-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. Point guard Joel Munoz (183-80, agency: Paris Global Sports) scored 20 points, 6 rebounds, 7 assists and 4 steals to lead the charge for the winners and naturalized American guard Antonio Bumpus (190-89, college: Cumberlands) chipped in 20 points during the contest. American guard CJ Rodriguez (188, college: S.Nazarene) responded with 18 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists and international forward Adalberto Rojas (198-86) scored 11 points and 8 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Toros maintains sixth position with 5-9 record. Loser Caballos keep the fourth place with eight games lost. They share the position with Aguilas. Toros will meet at home higher ranked Aguilas (#5) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Caballos will play against the league's second-placed Panteras in Panama City and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
