Regular Season Round 6: Casvi - Quintanar 94-82

There was an upset in Villaviciosa where higher ranked Quintanar (3-2) was defeated by tenth ranked Casvi (3-3) 94-82 on Saturday. The hosts trailed by 4 points at the halftime before their 53-37 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Casvi shot 70.0 percent from the field. It was a great shooting night for Casvi especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 58.8 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The best player for the winners was guard Fernando Sierra (187-95) who scored 27 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists (on 9-of-10 shooting from the field). Jose Miguel Perez (202-96) chipped in 17 points and 6 rebounds (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field). Four Casvi players scored in double figures. Casvi's coach Jose Antonio Sanchez used a ten-player rotation saving starting five for next games. At the other side the best for losing team was Chadian center Placide Nakidjim (205-94) who recorded 21 points and 9 rebounds and Cuba point guard Taylor Garcia (182-87) added 24 points and 6 assists respectively. Casvi moved-up to ninth place in Group B. Loser Quintanar dropped to the eighth position with two games lost. Casvi will face Torrelodones (#10) in the next round.
