Regular Season Round 4: Ethnikos - Irakleio 93-68

Very expected game when 12th ranked Irakleio (1-3) was smashed by seventh ranked Ethnikos (3-1) in Piraeus 93-68 on Saturday. Ethnikos shot the lights out from three sinking 15 long-distance shots on high 51.7 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists comparing to just 8 passes made by Irakleio's players. Quite impressive performance for swingman Nikos Kokkalis (198-85) who helped to win the game recording 23 points and 6 assists. Swingman Paraskeva Martzos (197-85) contributed with 17 points for the winners. Four Ethnikos players scored in double figures. Guard Miron Papadakis (183-88) replied with 18 points and Spyros Panou (204-92) added 13 points in the effort for Irakleio. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Ethnikos have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Doukas and Faros. Irakleio lost third consecutive game. Newly promoted team dropped to the ninth position with three games lost. Ethnikos will face league's second-placed Iraklis in Thessaloniki in the next round and it may be the game of the week. Irakleio will play at home against Panionios (#3) and hope to win that game.
